You need a passport to travel to Mexico!
Closest airports to San Miguel de Allende is Leon, Guanajuato (BJX), with daily flights from several International Airports. It’s a small airport (compared to most), and not at all intimidating.
The drive to San Miguel takes about an hour and a half – an interesting drive on one of the local shuttle services, for about $35 each way. Drivers meet you as you come through customs, holding placards with your name(s).
Be sure to use the restroom facilities at the airport as there are no stops on the way to San Miguel!
BajioGo Airport Shuttle provides safe, dependable shuttle service from the airport. Advanced reservations are required, and you can make them online. Payment can be made online or in cash to the driver in either pesos or dollars.
To make your reservation for your shuttle from the airport, click the link below. Select the first choice, “BJX.” Then select, “Shared shuttle from León Airport.”

Many people prefer, or must, fly into Mexico City. There are bus services from Mexico City to Queretaro (about three hours), and then an hour shuttle ride into San Miguel. BajioGo Airport Shuttle will help you schedule your transportation.
