Faculty Proposals

Every year we invite 50-75 individuals to be a part of our faculty during the San Miguel Writers’ Conference. Our faculty ranges in backgrounds from professional writers, to marketing experts, to professors with extensive knowledge of literature. Each faculty member teaches one or more 90-minute workshop(s) and some appear on panels, teach 3-hour intensive workshops, and do individual consultations. In exchange for teaching, faculty members attend the San Miguel Writers’ Conference as our guest, stay in a lovely home in San Miguel with a gracious host, and receive many other perks and compensation.

If you would like to be considered to be a faculty member, you must submit a 90-min workshop proposal or panel proposal through Submittable, our online proposal submission site:

2019 Faculty Proposals

The deadline for submitting proposals for the 2018 San Miguel Writers’ Conference has now passed.

Please Note: If you are interested in teaching more than one workshop the proposals must be submitted separately.

Our faculty receive the following:

  • Faculty Welcome Brunch
  • Accommodations in one of San Miguel’s beautiful homes with a gracious host
  • 5 lunches during the conference
  • Complimentary tickets to our opening gala, closing reception, and our Legendary Mexican Fiesta
  • Complimentary tickets to all keynote speakers, storytelling performance, and all panels
  • $100 USD honorarium for each 90-minute workshop taught
  • $50 USD toward roundtrip ground transportation to and from local airports in Mexico.
  • An invitation to sell your books in the Conference Bookstore
  • A complimentary MP3 recording of your workshop(s)

If you will be traveling with your spouse or life partner, that person is warmly invited to be our guest at the opening gala, closing receptions, and the Legendary Mexican Fiesta.

Please Note: Faculty compensation packages do not include admission to three-hour intensive workshop or excursions. If you would like to attend any of the 90-minute workshops, you may see whether space is available after you arrive at the Conference.
