We had more writing contest submissions this year than ever before. From finding ghosts in El Salvador to a president chocking on oysters to a father visiting his son in prison each submission had an engaging narrative and it took our judges much longer to sift through all the amazing writing this year. However after much discussion they narrowed their list to the writers below.

Each of the winners will be attending the San Miguel Writers’ Conference free of charge and have their lodging provided for them (Feb 10-14, 2016). It is our hope that attending the conference will allow them to network, learn more about the craft of writing, and share some writing advice with their peers.
This year is the 11th anniversary of the San Miguel Writers’ Conference. Our acclaimed keynote speakers will include Joyce Carol Oates, Scott Simon, Gail Sheehy, Kirk Ellis, Elizabeth Hay, Luis Urrea, Lisa See, Juan Villoro, and John Perkins.
