Spotlight Presenter

Jamie Hemken

Jamie Hemken is an educator, leader, and storyteller with more than 25 years of experience cultivating meaningful learning communities. She believes stories have the power to unite us—inviting individuals from varied backgrounds into shared understanding, empathy, and growth.

Jamie’s career spans classroom teaching, academic leadership, and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion work across independent and public schools. She has launched student-led diversity initiatives, developed faculty trainings on cultural awareness and communication, and facilitated reconciliation studies that guide participants through honest conversations about identity, race, and belonging. Her graduate research focused on racial healing and literacy, further grounding her commitment to thoughtful, identity-centered leadership.

Jamie creates spaces where adults feel both challenged and supported, curiosity is welcomed, difficult stories are honored, and growth is possible. Drawing from her own journey through racial trauma and healing, she approaches DEI not as a checklist, but as the courageous practice of examining the narratives that shape who we are and how we lead. She is passionate about walking alongside adults who are curious about their own identity stories and ready to lead with greater awareness, humility, and integrity.
