Rafael Córdova

Rafael Adón Córdova, PhD, holds a doctorate in Education from the University of California Santa Barbara and brings more than thirty years of teaching experience to his work as a writer and workshop facilitator. After fourteen years in K–6 classrooms, he spent fifteen years as a university professor of education, publishing more than twenty peer-reviewed articles and book chapters and presenting nationally and internationally on identity, transformation, and the cultural dimensions of learning.

Of Mexican heritage, his work is deeply shaped by the borderlands consciousness of Gloria Anzaldúa and the mythic architecture of Joseph Campbell. Living between languages and cultures, he explores Nepantlán—the liminal in-between space—as both lived experience and narrative structure.

He is the author of the forthcoming book NEPANTLÁN: RITUALS FOR BECOMING YOUR OWN SHAMAN, which reimagines the Hero’s Journey as the Her@’s Journey—an inclusive, nonbinary framework for transformation rooted in Mesoamerican symbolism, creative ritual, embodied self-inquiry manifested through writing process.

Based in San Miguel de Allende, Rafael is fluent in English and Spanish. His workshops blend narrative architecture with reflective practice, guiding participants to transform rupture, migration, sexuality, spirituality, and reinvention into powerful story. He invites writers not only to tell their stories—but to understand the architecture of their becoming.
