Let’s write from a place that allows for the biggest hoop, the largest hope! Be a Voice for the Change you wish for! What we name and write (whether for or against) is what we create in the world. The Saying makes it So.Ever notice when you read: NO MORE WAR/STOP WAR/WAR IS UNHEALTHY/END VIOLENCE, etc., what you are literally, actually, taking in, through your eyes, listening, and thinking is: WAR, UNHEALTHY, VIOLENCE, NO…?Let’s RE-LANGUAGE our thinking! Learn the Dharma of Eloquence: how much of the Good can we hold and move forward in our speaking and writing!Let’s learn to speak FOR, write FOR…that is my idea of the paradigm shift: the way we can truly inspire the Good so our writing can transform, not judge, not castigate, or berate. This workshop addresses a current and pressing need: how, as writers, do we make a difference with our work? How do we use our passion and literary skills to do real Good and effect meaningful change in the world? I will provide a handout jampacked with exquisite poems that speak effectively and beautifully for what we cherish — and powerfully and urgently speak for what must end. In the handout, I will also offer writing exercises to support our sustained work and, in class, provide hands-on writing practice. I’ll share innovative, potent tools for us Activist-Artists; we’ll leave jazzed, juiced, and ready to Be the Voices our time and culture needs! Please join me for this high-energy, hands-on how-to with inspiring exercises and stirring global poetry that Speaks For, Sings For, and Brings Change! All genres welcome: please bring a piece you are working on.
