1. Identity and Address of the Responsible Party

San Miguel Literary Sala, A.C. and/or San Miguel Global Literary Institute organizers of the San Miguel Writers’ Conference & Literary Festival (“the Responsible Parties”), with address for notifications at Camino Antiguo Ferrocarril 14, 37885 San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, are responsible for the use, processing, and protection of your personal data.

2. Personal Data We Collect

To fulfill the purposes described in this notice, we collect the following categories of data:

  • Identification data: Name, address, phone number, email, CURP, date of birth, age, nationality, image, photograph, biographical sketches.
  • Contact information: Email address, mobile/landline phone number, institutional or personal address.
  • Billing and financial information: Federal Taxpayer Registry (RFC) or the equivalent in the case of foreigners, bank details, or credit/debit card details (used only for processing registrations, workshops, and ticket purchases).
  • Image and sound data: Photographs and video recorded during the event, conferences, and workshops.
  • Submitted works: Entries submitted for competition; the content of these works remains the sole responsibility of their authors.

The Responsible Parties do not collect sensitive personal data (such as ethnic origin, health status, religious beliefs, or sexual orientation).

3. Purposes of Data Processing

Your personal data will be used for the following primary purposes (necessary to provide our services):

  • Registration: Processing your participation in 2026 event packages, workshops, readings, and panels.
  • Payments and billing: Processing payments for access, issuing tax receipts, and managing transactions.
  • Official communication: Sending confirmations, digital access credentials, program changes, or urgent festival notices.
  • Event documentation: Using captured images and video for the festival’s historical record and press accreditation.

We will also use your information for the following secondary purposes (not required to provide service, but which help us serve you better):

  • Promotion: Using photos or video for advertising future festival editions on our website and social media.
  • Marketing: Sending newsletters, invitations to future literary events, and special promotions.

4. Transfer of Personal Data

Your personal data may be transferred and processed, within or outside Mexico, by parties other than the Responsible Parties. Specifically, your information may be shared with affiliated companies or foundations that provide financial support (grants) to the San Miguel Literary Sala, A.C. and/or the San Miguel Global Literary Institute; such data transfers will be carried out solely and exclusively to fulfill the planning, verification, and execution of the corresponding events.

Likewise, the Responsible Parties may share information with their affiliate, subsidiary, related, or group companies or entities, whether in Mexico or abroad, that operate under equivalent processes and internal privacy policies.

These transfers occur exclusively for administrative purposes, internal control, service management, and the proper operation of the festival. Under Article 37, Section III of Mexico’s Federal Law on the Protection of Personal Data Held by Private Parties (LFPDPPP), such transfers do not require your express consent, since they involve entities within the same corporate group as the Responsible Party.

Outside of this case, and except where required by law (such as judicial or tax authorities), your data will not be shared with any third party outside the organization.

5. Exercising Your ARCO Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access — know what personal data we hold about you and how it’s used
  • Rectify — request correction of inaccurate, outdated, or incomplete data
  • Cancel — request deletion of your data when you believe it’s being used improperly
  • Object — oppose the use of your data for specific purposes

These are known as your ARCO Rights.

  • Your name and an address or other means of contact for our response
  • Proof of identity (INE or valid passport)
  • A clear, precise description of the data involved and the right(s) you wish to exercise

We will respond within a maximum of 20 business days from receipt of your request.
