Some of the most powerful literature emerges from spaces of cultural crossing, spiritual questioning, and identity transformation. This interactive Pleasures of Reading session explores Nepantla — the liminal “in-between” space articulated by Gloria Anzaldúa — as a lens for experiencing borderlands literature.

Designed specifically for readers and writers, this session invites participants to actively engage selected passages that explore migration, hybridity, queerness, and spiritual awakening, inviting responsive writing. Together we will examine how authors construct moments of rupture and becoming — how narrative structure shapes our emotional and intellectual response as readers.

Through guided annotation, collaborative discussion, and visual mapping of narrative movement, participants will deepen their appreciation for how literature gives form to transformation.

Attendees will leave with new interpretive tools, a richer understanding of borderlands texts, and a curated list of works for further reading.
