About This Workshop

How do you turn the raw material of the past — in all its messiness — into compelling narrative nonfiction? In this workshop we’ll strategize how to shape memory, backstory, and research into a piece of nonfiction. How do you stay true to events as they happen while shaping them into a story that comes alive? In this workshop we’ll do some brainstorming and creative exercises for generating material from history and/or personal memory, and then discuss ways to structure and frame that work for your readers.
